I'm new to the server so I registered my accounts, downloaded RPHTiny and logged in successfully. I've been trying to download game data for about 4 hours now. Everybody keeps telling me it will download if I just leave it on the log in screen but when I do this both my resource monitor and task manager show that World of Warcraft is using 0mbps of network usage.

The only time it seems to be downloading anything is if I travel around the map. Even if I'm in game and sit in the same spot for a while it will eventually slow down to around 0.01mbps. It won't even try to download things like skill icons or the map unless I open the appropriate tab.

Even when I'm traveling around the map, the MAX network usage I get is about 20mbps for very short bursts but I'm averaging less than 1mbps. (My Internet download speed is consistently 90-110mbps)

After 4 hours of running around and searching the forums for a solution, my WoW folder is only at 2.5 GB.

It isn't just that it is slow, otherwise I'd just leave it running overnight; it is that it will only download if I'm actually in game where I'd eventually go AFK, inactive, and be logged out.

I've used both Wow.exe and Wow-64.exe, both run with or without running as administrator.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Any tips?

Nothing you're doing wrong, just let the game download at its own pace. I'd be cautious with people saying it'll download if you leave it on the login screen, a lot of people on RPH have either modified their game, or have pre-existing connections to Blizzard's servers which may be affecting how they download files.

can confirm it downloads on login without any previous WoW / Battle.net app install. Though client-side patches are common, i think most it would do issue wise would require those things be on-screen. which won't happen on login unless you've replaced the login screen

I've heard very mixed things about this, some people claim their entire client downloaded overnight from being on the login screen, other people claim nothing happened for 4 weeks.

Not even on-screen acutally but you'd have to be near the modifiedobjects nonetheless for them to have any effect whatsoever

As for the mixed results, There's always the variables of User location, connection stability, and connection speed. Those can never be nailed down
