Hamako's warm, beryl visage is often filtered through the lavender lenses of his spectacles, which are a particularly striking feature of the pandaren's complicated complexion. Hamako bears the standard endomorphic build of a Pandaren, layered with fat and muscle. Despite this, Hamako's features are soft, almost feminine in their own right, with only the strong, masculine contours that form his jawline, and powerful-looking snout denoting a brief caveat of androgyny in the pandaren's weathered physiognomy, which contrasts greatly with the rest of his body. Hamako is a large pandaren, standing nearly 6'4" (~95 cm) and is every inch as wide as he is tall. Unsurprisingly, Hamako is a natural athlete despite his physique, as one would expect of his kind. Hamako's limbs are almost always bandaged, a routine frequently practiced by brawlers and monks to mitigate the physical wear of their most important weapons. Since Hamako has made the transition from adventurer to innkeeper several times, recently, the pandaren is often seen wearing much nicer clothes, due to the relative - if brief - success of his inn, the Gilded Lotus.
The pandaren's association among acquaintances and strangers is amiable, if reserved. While prone to fits of anxiety and even neurotic behavior, Hamako has grown into his own man since the dawn of his adventures and is an honest, if modest, reflection of a common pandaren. Being a martial pacifist, Hamako typically uses violence as a last resort - often only employing non-lethal tactics to pacify an aggressor or opponent; as the pandaren would much rather settle any differences over a meal than through a physical confrontation. While this rule is exempt on adventures, where life-or-death scenarios happen quite frequently, Hamako does not take pride in killing another being, and is sympathetic of the opponents he's faced in his travels.
As a monk, Hamako is both a skilled martial artist and a master of chi control. Chi, which is the mogu word for "spirit," is the same primal life force employed by shamans to heal, commune with the elements, and empower their own attacks. While the two paths are fundamentally different and rarely cross, if ever, Hamako has painstakingly followed the path of the Shaman to further tap into his chi reserves and unlock its potential. Through this newfound enlightenment, Hamako is able to interact with the elements, calling on them for aid in the heat of battle. Hamako has a particular penchant for the elements of air and water, as a reverent reflection of his relatively docile and informal personality.
While Hamako is adept in the Ox fighting style, he has developed an effective form of the historically stoic style that draws from other martial arts Hamako has encountered in his travels throughout Azeroth. This cultural champloo manifests itself in a fighting style that Hamako has only called Wàn-pò, which roughly translates to "wrist breaker." As a style, Wàn-pò has a pleasant plethora of adaptability, with Hamako primarily practicing percussive hand strikes and jumping kicks at medium range, and employ joint locks and throwing techniques in closer distances. Wàn-pò emphasizes circular motion, redirection of force, and imposing your physical will on the opponent.
As a beneficial stipulation of his lifestyle, Hamako has become an artisan Alchemist in his adventures. Through his experiments and efforts to combine the spiritual force of Chi and imbue it into alchemical concoctions, he has produced supernatural nostrums that maintain various magical effects.
BREW OF SPECTRAL ASSAULT
A bitter, viscose liquid containing considerably minimal alcoholic content, it is almost ectoplasmic in nature and exudes a pallid sheen off of its surface. Upon consumption, this brew makes the consumer partially ethereal, subjecting them to the effects of the Ghost Touch spell, empowering their natural attacks to damage other ethereal creatures at the cost of being vulnerable to spell attacks and effects.
DRAUGHT OF THE FROZEN WASTES
A drink so cold it requires a specialized gourd to handle its contents, imbued with powerful frost magic. While exposed to the elements, the brew betrays a wistful aura of steam that is forcibly expelled from the bottle's lip. When consumed, your body temperature drops drastically, to near fatal levels, and the duration of drinking the elixir is comparable to swallowing ice cold water that contains sharp slivers of glass that pull at the flesh of your throat as you swallow. After drinking, you feel your throat shorten with the immediate impulse to vomit, and you expel a large breath of frigid air that freezes almost anything in its path solid.
ESSENCE OF THE FIVE SUNS
A volatile concoction that bubbles with a vibrant vermilion hue. Like its distaff counterpart, this brew is so extreme in temperature it must be handled in a specialized gourd. While exposed to the elements, an aura of smoke and heat festers around the bottle. When it is consumed, it has no real taste - just staggering heat, like drinking boiled water - and only has the vile aftertaste of an oil-like fluid. Afterwards, you will feel your throat shorten and the immediate impulse to vomit, and you will expel an inferno of fire magic that incinerates virtually anything in its path.
EXTRACT OF ELUNE
Reminiscent of moonberry juice, this brew maintains a sour, fruity taste that is striking to common consumers of the kaldorei beverage. When drank, you are able to replicate a Kaldorei's supernatural ability of blending into the shadows - which allows you to become almost invisible at night, in light-less areas, or in the dense shadows of surrounding terrain.
ELIXIR OF QUILEN'S LUST
Smooth and well-fermented, this brew remains as the most mundane of the catalogue in terms of taste. Upon consumption, the brew activates a sudden burst of adrenaline and puts you under the effect of the ghost sound spell. This exciting combination generates increased speed and dexterity, as well as masking your movements in most terrain. However inorganic collisions, like the clattering cacophony of a suit of plate or mail, cannot be masked by ghost sound.
ICHOR OF THE MEGALITH
This brew has the quality and taste of mud - harsh, gritty, and unpleasant to swallow. When consumed, your body becomes cragged and hardened, and gain the benefits of the stoneskin spell. All bleeding ceases, your natural defenses are improved and your natural attacks become more powerful.
- While he remains the most comfortable speaking Mogu, Hamako has been able to relate to the Common and Dwarvish tongues strongly as they both directly draw from the same proto-language that Mogu was born from. Consequently, Hamako has significant trouble both speaking and understanding the most basic, general variation of Orcish, due to it being birthed from an entirely separate proto-language that wasn't even heard on Azeroth prior to the First War.
- Despite his affiliation with the Alliance, Hamako can be found in neutral and even horde-aligned territories, where he often goes to collect specific herbs and reagents for his brews and concoctions. Due to his minor notoriety in the alliance for his tavern's success, and due to his rudimentary knowledge of Orcish, Hamako can be easily distinguished and recognized by both members of the Alliance and the Horde.
