NPC waypoints have been broken for quite some time now. Before the update to 7.3.5, it at least had a chance to work after a restart or crash, it was a very slim chance though.

Personally, I've had several phases that relied on NPC waypoints to make things feel more alive, but all of which now feel lifeless with motionless npcs that used to patrol or walk along paths. Please fix this feature, as I feel it could greatly enhance the feel of phases.


>Off-topic, but please fix .ph copy as well, it's also seemingly stopped working. Instead of making the mainphase NPCs visible to the phase, please consider changing it to physically copy NPCs from mainphase within a single zone. This would allow us to use retail placements and also interact with these npcs better.

I sometimes wish for Waypoints back too, but they were quite a glitchy feature to begin with, and apparently were a cause of a lot of server lag. Which is why I think Dread has prioritised fixing other issues before waypoints.

  • Yes, NPCs could walk along a set path, but only if a player was within a very small radius to them. If a player left the radius, the NPC would just stand still. Upon a player re-entering the radius, the npc would sprint to the position it should have been in, had it not stopped walking at all.
  • Npcs on waypoints often found a way to 'fly' about, sticking their hands in the air and hopping to a waypoint instead of walking. (Again this was common when an NPC resumed its route after pausing)
  • Npc waypoints seem to only be reliable for using on terrain, as they would clip through the floor of .wmo buildings, even if they are ones existing in the world and not player placed.


I don't see a way of waypoints making a return, with the thousands of phases on RPH, the feature simply draws too much lag, and isn't really the best thing anyway.

Perhaps re-implemented as a very expensive Donator Perk, so only a very few amount of people can use it, and then set it so the waypoints don't need a player within a radius to work. This would remove glitchiness with pausing/resuming routes, and keep server lag low as a minimum amount of people would be capable of using it.
